LEVELS, LENGHTS, AND FREQUENCY:
1st YEAR:
Beginning 1 (a 90-minute meeting per week for 15 weeks)
Beginning 2 (a 90-minute meeting per week for 15 weeks)
2nd YEAR:
Intermediate 1 (a 90-minute meeting per week for 15 weeks)
Intermediate 2 (a 90-minute meeting per week for 15 weeks)
3rd YEAR:
Advanced 1 (a 90-minute meeting per week for 15 weeks)
Advanced 2 (a 90-minute meeting per week for 15 weeks)
1st YEAR: BEGINNING (45 hours)
At the end of the entire year, you will be able to understand essential instructions
and to exchange information in a simple way. In writing you will be able to fill
in simple forms and take notes on basic data.
Beginning 1 (22.5 hours per session)
In this class you will develop basic language skills in speaking, listening,
reading, and writing while learning rules of grammar and pronunciation. Organized around
theme-based units and authentic materials, the course will emphasize communicative abilities
and vocabulary building through real-life simulations and interactive activities. This class
will also introduce you to aspects of Italian life and culture.
Open to absolute beginners. This course is taught in Italian.
Beginning 2 (22.5 hours per session)
In this class you will develop further basic language
skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while
learning rules of grammar and pronunciation. Organized around theme-based
units and authentic materials, the course will emphasize communicative abilities
and vocabulary building through real-life simulations and interactive activities.
This class will also introduce you to aspects of Italian life and culture.
Open to students who have completed Beginning 1 or equivalent. This course is taught in Italian.
2nd YEAR: INTERMEDIATE (45 hours)
At the end of the entire year, you will be able to express opinions and formulate requests
in a simple way in familiar contexts. Orally you will be able to understand basic information
about common subjects; in writing, you will be able to fill in forms and write simple letters
or postcards about personal matters.
Intermediate 1 (22.5 hours per session)
In this class you will improve your four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing)
in Italian, while expanding your grammar knowledge and acquiring pronunciation techniques. Organized
around theme-based units and authentic materials, the course will emphasize communicative abilities and
vocabulary building through real-life simulations and interactive activities. In this class, you will
gather further information about Italian life and culture.
Open to students who have completed Beginning 2 or equivalent. This course is taught in Italian.
Intermediate 2 (22.5 hours per session)

3rd YEAR: ADVANCED (45 hours)
At the end of the year you will be able to express yourself in a limited way by dealing with general subjects outside
familiar or routine contexts. You will be able to share your opinions on more abstract matters, read material outside
familiar contexts referring to common subjects, and write longer texts on predictable topics related to personal
experiences.
Advanced 1 (22.5 hours per session)
In this class you will further improve your four language skills (speaking, listening,
reading, and writing) in Italian, while being exposed to more complex grammar structures.
Organized around theme-based units and authentic materials, the course will emphasize
communicative abilities and vocabulary building through real-life simulations and interactive
activities. In this class, you will further expand your knowledge of Italian life and culture.
Open to students who have completed Intermediate 2 or equivalent. This course is taught in Italian.
